First Istanbul IN Speaker! December 14th, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. in Taksim

This Friday, December 14th, we are hosting Ilkem Kayican as our speaker. She is the head of the Writing Center at Bilgi University and will be talking about “The Challenges of Teaching Writing in Turkey.”

Ilkem Kayican graduated from Ege University in the Department of English Language and Literature. She got her MA from the Bilgi University Cultural Studies Program. She is the Writing Center Coordinator at Bilgi University. Her areas of interest are academic writing and critical thinking, learner identity and multicultural and democratic education.

Although she teaches at the university level, the issue of teaching writing is relevant to teachers at all levels, Turkish and Foreign alike, so we hope everyone can come!

The meeting will be at a new location with a beautiful view of the Golden Horn – Terasta Cafe – just above Tomer Language school in Taksim.

Look forward to seeing everyone there!!!
